FAQs
Quick answers to the most common workshop questions.
Are these workshops suitable for beginners?
Yes, if you’re keen to learn. You’ll get clear guidance on settings, composition and workflow in a max-4 group, without the pressure of a big crowd.
How many people are in each workshop?
Workshops are capped at 4 participants. That cap is there so you can get personal feedback in the field and during editing help.
What do you actually teach, beyond “cool locations”?
You’ll learn a repeatable process: planning for light/tides/moon, shooting safely with clean technique, then editing with a practical Lightroom/Photoshop workflow.
Do you include Lightroom and Photoshop help?
Yes. Workshops include workflow guidance and image review so you leave with a plan you can repeat at home.
What gear do I need?
A camera with manual control is ideal. A tripod is strongly recommended, especially for sunrise/sunset and night sessions. Lens recommendations are shared in the prep pack.
Do I need to be very fit?
Not necessarily. Fitness and access requirements vary by location. Each workshop page outlines walking distances and conditions, and you’ll get a clear prep pack before the first session.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We plan around conditions. If something isn’t safe or productive, we adjust timing or locations and prioritise sessions that will still get you strong learning and results.
How do permits and access work?
Permits/permissions are arranged where required to run the workshop. Requirements vary by location and land manager, and access plans can change with conditions.
Can I fly a drone on the workshop?
No. For safety, insurance and compliance reasons, drones are not permitted on any Dylan Knight Photography workshop (including all workshop sessions, meet-ups and group activities). Any drone operation is a personal activity done outside the workshop and without our permission, involvement, supervision, or insurance coverage. If a participant flies against instructions or breaches site/permit rules, they may be removed from the workshop.
Will we shoot the exact spots shown in your photos?
We aim for the hero locations listed for each workshop, but final choices depend on conditions, safety, and access on the day.
Is there 1:1 coaching?
It’s a small group (max 4), so you’ll get plenty of individual feedback within the group setting, both in the field and during reviews.
