Expression of interest · Not a confirmed expedition

Antarctica with Dylan Knight Photography

I am gauging interest in a future small-group Antarctica photography departure, hosted in partnership with an established polar expedition operator. If enough serious photographers are in, I will explore the right operator, itinerary and group model.

Where this is at

  • No confirmed dates
  • No deposit, no obligation
  • No operator, ship or itinerary locked in yet
  • This only progresses if enough genuine interest exists

Why I am exploring Antarctica

Antarctica has been one of those places I have wanted to experience for as long as I can remember.

I am best known for landscape and astrophotography, but wildlife is actually where my photography started. Before the seascapes, Milky Way images, workshops and editing courses, I was drawn in by animals, wild places and the challenge of photographing subjects you cannot control. That is a big part of why Antarctica means so much to me.

Icebergs, penguins, seals, seabirds, vast polar landscapes and the feeling of being somewhere truly remote. It is one of the ultimate photography experiences. On a personal level it is a bucket-list dream. On a professional level it is the kind of project I would love to build carefully, honestly and properly with the right operator.

But this is not just about me going to Antarctica.

The real goal is to help a small group of photographers experience it properly. I would hate for someone to travel across the world to a place like this and come home feeling they missed the images they hoped for because they were unsure about settings, gear, composition, exposure, file management or editing. A trip like this deserves preparation, a clear plan, and support before, during and after.

Whether those images end up on a wall, in a personal portfolio, or simply as memories shared with family and friends, I want people to come away with work they are proud of.

What this would be

The most realistic first step is a hosted Antarctic Peninsula departure from Ushuaia, Argentina, aboard an established polar expedition ship, roughly ten to twelve days. The operator manages the vessel, landings, Zodiac operations, safety, permits, IAATO compliance, expedition staff and logistics. Dylan Knight Photography adds the photography layer, not the ship.

The operator handles

  • Ship and cabins
  • Landings and Zodiac operations
  • Safety and risk systems
  • Permits and IAATO compliance
  • Expedition staff, medical and logistics

I bring the photography

  • Gear prep and pre-trip Teams sessions
  • Field coaching for ice, wildlife and conditions
  • Settings for snow, Zodiacs and fast wildlife
  • Image review through the quieter sea days
  • Post-trip editing and portfolio sessions

Indicative cost

Likely from around A$15k+ per person

Plus flights and travel costs. Final pricing would depend on operator, ship, cabin type, season, availability and inclusions. The total trip cost will be higher once flights, insurance, clothing, pre and post travel and personal expenses are included. This is a guide only, not a confirmed price.

What happens next

If there is enough genuine interest, I will begin exploring suitable polar operators and realistic group options.

If a strong option comes together, I will email the interest list first with the proposed operator, itinerary, dates, pricing and inclusions. Until then, this is simply a way to register interest and help me understand whether this future project is worth pursuing.

Register your interest

No deposit. No obligation. This simply helps me see whether enough photographers want to make a future Antarctica project happen.

By registering, you acknowledge this is an expression of interest only. No dates, pricing, operator, itinerary or inclusions are confirmed yet, and no deposit is required.
