Designed around what photographers actually need
Great locations matter. So does having enough time and support to understand why an image worked, what did not, and what to change on the next shoot.
Know where, when and how to shoot
Get practical help with light, timing, composition, settings and focus while you are actually making the photograph, when small decisions have the biggest impact.
Real individual attention
With no more than four photographers, there is time to work with each person, check their approach, answer questions and provide meaningful one-on-one coaching within the group.
Finish the images you came to make
Dedicated Lightroom and Photoshop review and editing are built into the multi-day format, often daily where the itinerary allows, so you can work through files while the lessons are still fresh.
More than a photo tour
The aim is not simply to put you in front of a good location. It is to help you build a workflow you can repeat without me afterwards.
Field coaching and post-processing work together. We make images, review the results, identify what needs attention and put those lessons straight back into the next session.
Each workshop has a proper destination plan and structured programme, but field decisions remain conditions-led. Weather, cloud, light, tides, swell, wind, astro conditions, access and safety can all change the strongest option for a session.
Rather than forcing an itinerary written months earlier, we adapt to the best workable opportunities. Permits and permissions are arranged where required, and night-sky sessions remain dependent on suitable conditions.
Small groups. Practical teaching. Proven experience.
Enough structure to make the trip productive, with enough flexibility and individual time to support photographers at different experience levels.
I'm Dylan Knight, a landscape and astrophotography educator based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. My workshops bring planning, field technique and editing together, with clear explanations and support matched to your experience.
What past participants say
Real feedback from recent workshops.
“I recently spent four days with Dylan undertaking his astro and seascape course… with only four participants you get quality individual attention. Dylan is very generous in sharing his extensive knowledge… Dylan spends time each day teaching and assisting in post-processing… I can honestly say that it was one of the best photography learning experiences I have undertaken.”
“Dylan is very approachable and forthcoming with his knowledge. He assists with settings, composition and shooting conditions from sunrise through to astro photography and evenly distributes his attention to each workshop member. Then there is the editing, where Dylan helps you get your shots to really shine with his extensive Photoshop and Lightroom knowledge and never-ending patience.”
“The small class size made such a difference. His patience and genuine passion for helping others improve is what really stood out. I walked away feeling far more confident using my camera, especially in low-light and night conditions.”
Images from the field
Locations and conditions change, but the approach remains the same: plan properly, work with what the environment gives us and make the most of every session.
