Before, during & after

The on-location session is just one part. Every booking includes support that runs the full cycle.

1

Before — Pre-Tour Camera Setup Guide

Sent to your inbox after booking. Covers camera modes, exposure basics, and exactly what to prepare for your session type — seascape or astro. Arrive ready, not scrambling with settings at the location.

2

During — Guided Location Experience

Right place, right time. Dylan has scouted the location, timed it for the best available light, and will be on-location throughout. Light support on settings, composition, and framing available as you shoot.

3

After — Free Editing Tutorial Video

A full seascape or astro editing walkthrough delivered to your inbox within 24 hours of the session. Learn to process the style of images you just shot — practical, start-to-finish.

Who this is for

  • Anyone who wants to shoot a great location at the right time with some guidance on hand
  • Beginners not yet ready to commit to a full masterclass
  • Intermediate photographers who want to try a new location type before going deeper
  • Photographers who want a lower-cost introduction to Dylan's teaching style before booking a Masterclass

Not the right fit if…

  • You want intensive one-on-one coaching and individual feedback — that's the Masterclass
  • You're after a guaranteed Milky Way — conditions-dependent for astro tours
  • You're not comfortable on uneven coastal terrain in low light

Tour vs. Masterclass — know the difference

This is a guided photo tour, not an intensive workshop. Here's exactly what each delivers so you can choose the right one.

Photography Masterclass

  • Intensive hands-on coaching — full 24 hours
  • Maximum 4 participants — real individual attention
  • Deep technique: exposure, filters, astro, Lightroom, Photoshop
  • 3-hour editing session included
  • Sunset → Astro → Sunrise → Editing
  • AU$399 per person

What to bring

Your pre-tour guide covers everything specific to your session type. This is the general list.

Gear

  • Camera with manual mode (DSLR or mirrorless) — kit lens is fine to start
  • Tripod — strongly recommended for seascape and astro; without one, long exposures aren't possible
  • Wide-angle lens if you have one — 18–35mm works well
  • Fully charged battery + spare if you have one
  • Remote shutter or intervalometer (optional but useful)

On the day

  • Headtorch — required for early morning and evening sessions
  • Warm layer — it gets cold at the coast before sunrise
  • Solid closed-toe footwear — coastal terrain is uneven
  • Own vehicle required to meet at the location
  • Rain cover for your bag just in case

Booking acknowledgement

All bookings include the following acknowledgement at checkout. It keeps expectations clear and protects the experience for everyone in the group.

FAQs

Direct answers before you book.

Is this a workshop? +
No. This is a guided photo tour — not an intensive workshop. You'll get location timing, basic help with settings and composition, and on-location support throughout. For intensive hands-on coaching with individual attention and an editing session, the Photography Masterclass is the right choice.
What experience level do I need? +
None required. The pre-tour setup guide covers everything you need to arrive ready. Basic manual mode familiarity is helpful but not essential — Dylan can help with fundamental settings on location. The tour is designed to be accessible to complete beginners.
What locations are available? +
Tours rotate across six permitted Sunshine Coast locations — Point Cartwright, Point Arkwright, Coolum Bays & Headlands, Pincushion Island (Mudjimba), Wild Horse Mountain, and Buderim Falls. Additional SEQ locations including Noosa, Glass House Mountains, Gold Coast Hinterland, and Borumba Dam will be added as permit coverage expands. Final location confirmed closer to your date based on conditions, tide, and light.
What's included in the post-tour editing video? +
A full editing walkthrough for the session type you just shot — either seascape or astrophotography. It covers tone, colour, noise reduction, and export. Sent to your inbox within 24 hours of the session. It's a real teaching resource, not a highlights reel.
What if the weather is bad? +
Tours don't cancel for overcast skies — cloudy conditions create their own opportunities and the session runs as planned. For astro tours, if skies are fully clouded over, the full camera setup and technique is still covered. Sessions are only postponed if conditions are genuinely unsafe — in which case we reschedule.
What's the cancellation policy? +
72+ hours before: full refund. Within 72 hours: no refund. ACL rights apply. Full cancellation policy →
Do I need my own vehicle? +
Yes — own vehicle required to meet at the location. Exact meeting point confirmed via email 48 hours before your session.
